Albion Hotel?

The Albion Hotel welcomes you in a charming building in Ypres. The historic building was completely renovated in 2000 and transformed into the Albion Hotel by Luc (✝︎) and his wife Christiane. Their daughters Ruth and Daphne joined the family run business later.

The current entrance to the hotel has been rebuilt to look as it did before the First World War, using typical regional building materials: bricks made from the yellowish polder clay (Veurne - Diksmuide) and, for the water-resistant plinth, sandstone from Arras (“grès d'Arras” - now France).

Before the First World War, the site of the Albion Hotel was occupied by a classicist residence dating from the late 1700s and a Renaissance house with a stepped gable dating from the 1600s. The hotel entrance is a faithful reconstruction of the entrance to this original house with its stepped gable.

Where does the name Albion Hotel come from? Curious? For his 73rd birthday, founder Luc was happy to explain.
